Visual artist Catherine Fanning will create two prints to commemorate the 1500th anniversary of Colmcille’s birth as part of the 2021 Cos Cos Festival programme. One will be a black and white Lino print of Drumcliffe’s 10th century Round Tower, a surviving remnant of the monastery established by Colmcille within sight of Cooldrumman (Cul Dreimhne) where the Battle of the Books took place. Linking in with the Round Tower print a children’s colouring sheet will also be created and made available online. The second of the commissioned prints will be a Collage print themed around Colmcille and The Battle of the Book. Both prints will be on exhibition during the festival celebrations.
